Walter Owen Myers
Walter Owen Myers, 81, of Osceola Mills went to be with the Lord, on March 30, 2025, while at home, after battling Parkinsons and a fall.
Walter was born on Nov. 1, 1943 in McKeesport, Pa to the late Herbert and Eleanor Myers.
He graduated from McKeesport High School in 1961 and then attended Indiana Teacher’s College (now IUP) where he graduated, in 1965, with a teaching degree in Music Education.
Upon graduation, he moved to Philipsburg, PA where he began his teaching career as a Junior High Music teacher. He continued teaching in the Philipsburg-Osceola School district for the next 36 years, twenty six of those years as an elementary/junior high band teacher and 10 as a junior high computer teacher. He retired in 2001.
Walter was an active member of the Coal Run C&MA where he taught Sunday School, was a deacon, a treasurer and played the piano.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Ruth Carson, whom he married on Dec. 20, 1967, and his three children; Nathan (Karla) of Philipsburg, Jill Nuñez(Carlos) of Lancaster, PA and Jonathan (Gabriela) of Fresno, CA. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Carlos, Noeli, Eliana, Lucas, Xavier, Clara and Camila and 7 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, William, two infant brothers and an infant daughter, April.
At Walter’s request, there will be no visitation.
A burial service will be at the convenience of the family at Centre Cemetery, Osceola Mills, PA.
