Michael Patrick “Mick” Wayne
Michael Patrick “Mick” Wayne, 75, of Wilmington, NC, died on Sunday, October 23, 2022 in Wilmington, NC.
Born on December 29, 1946 in Philipsburg, PA, he was the son of the late James P. & Elizabeth A. “Betty” (Jaskowak) Wayne. He married Louise Ann Kopcik on May 25, 1974 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Osceola Mills, PA; she survives at home.
Michael retired from the United States Marine Corps in 1990 as a Lieutenant Colonel. He also retired as Director of Transportation for New Hanover County Schools in 2013.
He was a 1965 graduate of Philipsburg-Osceola High School and a graduate of St. Francis College in Loretto, PA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Bernice V. “Bernie” Dunsmore.
In addition to his wife, Michael is survived by a son, Sean Patrick Wayne of Wilmington, NC; three sisters, Mary Lego & her husband Mike of Lanse, PA, Barbara Mellott of Avis, PA, and Kay Ludwig & her husband Dan of Pittsburgh, PA; two brothers, James F. Wayne & his wife Jean of Spring Mills, PA and Robert Wayne & his wife Dianne of Bridgeton, NJ; and his Mother-in-Law, Louise Kopcik of Philipsburg, PA.
The Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, LLC, 701 Lingle St., Osceola Mills, PA. James Wayne will officiate. Burial will be at Umbria Cemetery in Osceola Mills, PA.
Visitation will be on Saturday, from 11:00 until the time of the funeral service at the funeral home.
