Stanley Richard Shimmel
Stanley Richard Shimmel, 91, of Tyrone, PA and formerly of Osceola Mills, PA, died on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at The Preserve at Cedarwood in Tyrone, PA.
Born on June 25, 1932, in Philipsburg, PA, he was the son of the late Richard & Zola (Parks) Shimmel. He married Gaynell I. Johnson on May 12, 1951, in Mahaffey, PA; she survives at home.
Stanley was a member of the Brisbin Baptist Church.
He was a retired Heavy Equipment Operator for K & J Mining Co. in Westover, PA.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Stanley I. Shimmel; three sisters, Emily Bryan, JoAnne Wisor and Lola Grenell; and one brother Edmond Shimmel.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Kathy Eckberg & her husband Carl of DuBois, PA; a son David R. Shimmel & his wife Roberta of Houtzdale, PA; a sister, Berva Damm of Hollidaysburg, PA; four grandchildren, Timothy, Allison, Shawn & Amy; and six great-grandchildren.
Private funeral services will be held at a later date. Pastor Mark Melhorn will officiate. Burial will be in the Reidy Cemetery in Wallaceton, PA.
There will be no visitation.
