Clarence DeWayne Royer
Clarence DeWayne Royer, 88, of West Decatur, PA, died on Monday, December 25, 2023, at Mt. Nittany Medical Center in State College, PA.
Born on July 26, 1935, in Clearfield, PA, he was the son of the late Fred & Roxie (Appleton) Royer. He married Gail. L. Kephart on September 28, 1957 at the former Ohio EUB Church in Osceola Mills, PA; she preceded him in death on July 7, 2022.
He was a member of the Mackeyville United Methodist Church in Mackeyville, PA and the Ohio United Methodist Church in Osceola Mills, PA.
Clarence was retired from Lock Haven University as a police officer, formerly employed as the Chief of Police for Lamar Township in Mill Hall, PA and a member of the Auxiliary Police in Lock Haven, PA.
He was a 1956 graduate of Clearfield Area High School and a graduate of Indiana University of PA Police Academy.
In addition to his parents & wife, Clarence was preceded in death by four sisters, Edna Smeal, Marion Kuhn, Helen Bloom and Lois Wise; three brothers, Alfred, Austin and John Royer; and three infant brothers, Walter, Wallace & James.
He is survived by a daughter, Pamela Jean Hendershot & her husband, Orie of West Decatur, PA; a son, Douglas D. Royer of West Decatur, PA; four grandchildren, Jason Hendershot & his wife Emily, Alyssa Emigh & her husband Tim, Ashley Royer and Shane Royer; and six great-grandchildren, Mallory, Dylan, Morgan, Brooks, Lucas and Caleb.
The Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, LLC, 701 Lingle St., Osceola Mills, PA. Pastor Michael Patton will officiate.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at the funeral home.
Entombment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery Mausoleum in Mill Hall, PA, with committal services at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2024. Friends of the family are invited to gather at the committal service.
