Dennis L. “Denny” Kanour
Dennis L. “Denny” Kanour, 75, of Osceola Mills, died Thursday, November 7, 2024, at his residence.
He was born on May 3, 1949, in Philipsburg, a son of the late Clifford and Marjorie (Koon) Kanour.
He graduated in 1967 from the Philipsburg – Osceola Area High School. He was also a graduate of the Surgical Technician program at Williamsport Area Community College.
Denny was of both the Catholic and Presbyterian faiths during his life. He served with the US Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Osceola Mills VFW, Post #5020 and the Osceola Mills American Legion, Post #313.
During his working career, Denny was employed in maintenance operations at The Village at Penn State until his retirement. Following his retirement from the senior living community, he accepted a position and was currently employed with AutoZone of Philipsburg.
Denny is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Pensa, of Philadelphia and Alison Martin, of Boalsburg; a son, James Kanour, of Winter Park, Florida; four grandchildren: William Martin, Joseph Martin, Elena Pensa and Antonio Pensa; two sisters, Georgia Dixon and her husband, Robert, of Michigan and Paula Shimmel and her husband, Dave, of Montoursville; one brother, Ronald Kanour and his wife, Lelah, of Apex, North Carolina; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Kanour, of Sandy Ridge; and his beloved and faithful four-legged companion, “Shadow.”
Denny was preceded in death by a brother, Larry W. Kanour, Sr. and a nephew, Larry W. Kanour, Jr., in addition to his parents.
A funeral service will be held at the Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, LLC, 701 Lingle St., Osceola Mills, on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 11:00 am, with Pastor Ronald Kanour, brother of the deceased, officiating.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9:00 am until the hour of the service.
Interment will be in Umbria Cemetery, Osceola Mills.
Military Honors will be accorded by the Osceola Mills Honor Guard.
