Edward L. Hicks
Edward L. Hicks, 87, of Osceola Mills, PA died on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Silas Creek Rehabilitation Center in Winston-Salem, NC.
Born on February 9, 1937 in Philipsburg, PA, he was the son of the late John C. & Elizabeth Olive (Rhodes) Hicks. He married Carole A. Webster on July 16, 1960 in Chicago, IL; she preceded him in death on March 19, 2015.
Edward was a Lifetime Member of the VFW and played Taps for Veterans burials since the Korean War.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran. After his military service, he worked at Delta Airlines as Vice President of Personnel in Chicago, IL and Westland, MI until relocating to Osceola Mills in 1972. He had several businesses, Houtzdale Produce, Lee Home Repairs and most notably, Care Free Manor Personal Care Home for the elderly in Osceola Mills, PA.
Edward was of the Christian Faith. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His greatest joys were his family, friends, helping others and serving the community.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, John “Jack” Hicks.
Edward is survived by two sons, Jonathan Drew Hicks & his wife Crystal O. Hicks of Cordova, TN and Douglas A. Hicks & his wife Ita of High Point, NC; seven grandchildren Matthew B. Hicks, Shelby L. Hicks, Alexander S. Hicks, Ryan Edward Hicks, Bradley Craft, Joshua A. Craft and Tyler A. Craft.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services LLC in Osceola Mills, PA. Rev. Glen Eason will officiate. Burial will be at Umbria Cemetery in Osceola Mills, PA.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at the funeral home.
A reception will follow the burial, details will be provided at the funeral service.
