Katie Marie Lupton Askey
Our beautiful Katie Marie Lupton Askey passed away on December 2, 2014 in Pittsburgh, PA. On March 27th, 1987, she was placed into the loving arms of her parents, Kenneth Lupton and Bonnie Ogden Lupton.
Katie, or ”Tater” as she was known by those close to her, was a 2005 graduate of Philipsburg Osceola Mills Area High School. She was a proud Army National Guard veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and deployed to Iraq. She had been an assistant recruiter for the Army National Guard.
Katie was a gifted artist, and applied her talents to inking some of the most beautiful tattoos. She possessed a light-up-a-room smile, as well as a quick with and great sense of humor. Katie loved baseball and had played on Little League teams.
She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Osceola Mills, Osceola Mills Veterans of Foreign Wars Osceola Memorial Post No. 5020 and the Philipsburg AMVETS. She also volunteered for the Wounded Warrior Project.
On December 26, 2008, at Philipsburg she wed Todd Askey who survives along with their beautiful 4-year old daughter, Jaylen Marie in Philipsburg.
Katie is survived by her loving brother, Jason Selfridge and his wife Beth, and daughter, Sienna all of Ramey; and adoring sister, Danielle, and her husband Nate, and their son, Nathaniel, all of Bellevue, NE.
She is also survived by her loving parents, Bonnie Ogden Lupton, Bellevue, NE; and Kenneth Lupton and wife Cindy of Osceola Mills.
She spent a great deal of time with her beloved paternal grandmother, Shirley (Gram) Lupton of McElhatton. She accompanied her Aunt Schweel, Cheryl Lupton Lee, Mattoon IL, on many family vacations, creating some of the best memories ever.
Katie shared many family picnics and holiday gatherings with her uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Other paternal survivors include her Uncle Bob Lupton and his wife, Lesa, of Philipsburg; Uncle Bill and his wife, Cindy, of Mill Hall.
She is survived by many cousins who so loved Katie’s story-telling abilities, especially her “Gram stories”. They include: Denise (Ed) Long of Wausau, WI; Erin (Brad) Spokas of Chaska, MN; Ryan Lee of Champaign, IL; Craig (Krista) of Osceola Mills; Dawnelle (Aaron) Mills of Ramey; Matt Lupton of Jersey Shore; Abbi (Cory) Rathmell of Lock Haven; Brad (Holly) Lupton of Howard.
Maternal survivors include: Her loving grandmother, Joyce Ogden, Aunt Sherry (Robert) Grimminger, Uncle Daniel Ogden, and Uncle Jeffrey (Terri) Ogden all of Clearfield.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Ronald Ogden.
Our dear, sweet Katie will be greatly missed. She fought a valiant fight against her addiction. We will carry on by holding close to each other and to the many fond memories we created together. She blessed this earth and those she encountered for 27 years, but her soul is eternal. May she rest in peace and joy until we meet again.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at the Heath Funeral Home in Osceola Mills, PA; with Pastor Ben Hardy officiating. Burial will be at the Umbria Cemetery in Osceola Mills, PA.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday, December 7, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. to funeral time at the funeral home.
Military Honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Osceola Mills Honor Guard.
