Evelyn F. Melius
Evelyn F. Melius, 97, of Windy Hill Village, PSL Philipsburg and formerly of Chester Hill, PA died on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Windy Hill Village, PSL in Philipsburg, PA.
Born on August 27, 1923 in New Castle, PA she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Gilespie) Jones. She married Irvin C. Melius on October 26, 1945 in Florida: he preceded her in death on August 17, 1982.
She was a member of Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church in Philipsburg, PA.
Evelyn was a retired clerk for the former Ames Department Store in Philipsburg, PA. She will be remembered for her stories about travels and adventures.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by: one son, William Melius; two granddaughters, Colleen Box and Amy Casher; one grandson, William Melius, Jr.; one great-grandson, Nathan Brnik; four brothers; and two sisters.
She is survived by: two sons, Thomas H. Melius & his wife Shirley of State College, PA and Daniel W. Melius of Grass Valley, CA; one sister, Gloria Rouse & her husband Robert of CA.; seven grandchildren, Greg Furrow, Brent Melius, Tom Gunter, Jennifer Casher, Christine Brnik, Jeremy Boone and Jessie Boone; fourteen great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and one daughter-in-law, Melanie Melius.
Private services will be held at a later date. Burial will be at the Philipsburg Cemetery in Philipsburg, PA.
