Edward Peter Mathews
Edward Peter Mathews, 80, of (Centre) Osceola Mills, PA died on Tuesday December 10, 2013 at Mt. Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clearfield, PA.
He was the son of the late Peter & Kathryn (Phillips) Mathews, born on June 28, 1933 in Philipsburg, PA. He married Janice R. (Boob) Mathews on January 9, 1955 in Osceola Mills, PA. She survives him at home.
Mr. Mathews was a member of the Centre United Methodist Church in Osceola Mills, PA. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was also a member of the American Legion Gorman Peters Post 313 in Osceola Mills, of which he was a former commander. He retired from James Cowfer Contracting as a loader operator.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: a son, Edward M. Mathews; a sister, Isabel Rexroth; and a grandson Justin Myers.
Along with his wife, he is survived by: three daughters, Kim Fyock & her husband Robert of Smoke Run, PA, Tina Dixon & her husband Kevin of Osceola Mills, PA, and Tracy Remp & her husband Ed of Osceola Mills, PA; a son, Bruce Mathews & his wife Pam of Osceola Mills, PA; and a sister, Florence Nickey of Philipsburg, PA; ten grandchildren, Robert, Mike & Melonie Fyock, Brian Mathews, Tyler Dixon, Macy & MaKayla Jury, and Hunter, Rebecca & Logan Remp; and six great-grandchildren, Katelyn Gray, Cameron, Dylan, Nathanael & Emma Fyock, and Ethan Garcia.
The Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at the Heath Funeral Home in Osceola Mills, PA, with Pastor Jennifer C. Heikes officiating. Burial will be at the Centre Cemetery in Osceola Mills, PA.
Visitation will be on Friday, December 13, 2013 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. & 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., and on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at the funeral home.
