Mary Louise “Mary Lou” Hughes
Mary Louise “Mary Lou” Hughes, 81, of Osceola Mills, PA died on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at her home.
Born on March 19, 1936 in Brisbin, PA, she was the daughter of the late Francis & Jean (Sheridan) Rodgers. She married Leo P. Hughes on October 13, 1956 at the Saint Lawrence Catholic Church in Houtzdale, PA: he survives at home.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two infant brothers.
Mrs. Hughes was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Osceola Mills, PA, where she was the Church organist for over 50 years and was a member of the Rosary Society of the Church. She was also a member of the C D of A Court, Saint Victoria Chapter #646 in Houtzdale, PA.
She was a homemaker, a 1953 graduate of the former Houtzdale-Woodland-Brisbin High School, and attended the Indiana State Teachers College.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by: three daughters, Frances M. Hughes of Metairie, LA, Mary Jo Gunter of Tyrone, PA and Jean E. Brooks & her husband Todd of Manassas VA; five sons, Martin J. Hughes of Duncansville, PA, Leo P. Hughes, Jr. & his wife Lori of Lakeville, MA, Joseph G. Hughes & his wife Jacqueline Hughes, DDS of Chambersburg, PA, Patrick L. Hughes, DMD of Washington, DC and Thomas E. Hughes of Williamsport, PA; two sisters, Rita Kennedy & her husband Edmund of Williamsport, PA and Judy Crago & her husband Walt of San Tan Valley, AZ; one brother, Patrick Rodgers of Emporium, PA and twenty-two grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 10:00 am at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Osceola Mills, PA: with Rev. Father Robert J. Horgas celebrant, Msgr. Joseph K. Bobal and Father Joseph P. Stascewski concelebrants. Burial will be at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Osceola Mills, PA.
Visitation will be on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm & 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Osceola Mills, PA.
The Rosary will be recited by the Rosary Society & C D of A on Monday at 7:45 pm.
