Joseph W. Rice

Joseph W. Rice, 75, of West Decatur, PA died Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at the Ridgeview Elder Care Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Curwensville, PA.

Born on September 10, 1941 in Osceola Mills, PA, he was the son of the late John & Nancy (Matthews) Rice.

Mr. Rice was of the Christian Faith.  He was a retired heavy equipment operator for Junior Coal of Philipsburg, PA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: a brother, John Rice, Jr.; a stepdaughter, Joyce Denise Zimmerman; and a grandson, William Robert “Bill”.

He is survived by: his significant other, Joyce L. Zimmerman of West Decatur, PA; four daughters, Debra Barnett & her husband Charles of Wallaceton, PA, Wanda Goncalves & her husband Manuel of NJ, Dorothy Zimmerman of West Decatur, PA and Brenda Lefort & her husband John of West Decatur, PA; a son, Jesse H. Zimmerman, Jr. of West Decatur, PA; and a sister, Patsy J. Holden of Osceola Mills, PA.  He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

At Mr. Rice’s request there will be no services or viewing.  Burial will be at the Umbria Cemetery in Osceola Mills, PA.
