John W. Mathews
John W. Mathews, 65 of Lanse, PA passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2012 at his home.
He was the son of the late Bert T. & Doris F. (Ridgway) Mathews, born on October 31, 1946 in Philipsburg, PA.
Mr. Mathews was of the Christian Faith. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the West Branch Sportsman Association of Kylertown, PA.
He was retired from Verizon as a splicer and graduated from the Philipsburg-Osceola High School, class of 1965. His hobbies were hunting, fishing and metal art work.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, James Mathews and Bert C. Mathews.
Mr. Mathews is survived by: two daughters, Faith S. Hamer & her husband Ardell of Winterville, NC, and Casey Mathews of Lanse, PA; three sons, Christopher Force of Grassflat, PA, Scott Force of Grassflat, PA and Todd R. Mathews of Morrisdale, PA; two sisters, Joann Bryan of Osceola Mills, PA and Carol Patkalitsky& her husband Joseph of McVeytown, PA; two brothers, Donald Mathews & his wife Cornett of Belleville, PA and Thomas Mathews & his wife Jean of McVeytown, PA; and three grandchildren, Justine McClarren, Hunter Force & Cameron Force.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at the Heath Funeral Home in Osceola Mills, PA, with Pastor Donald Smith officiating. Burial will be at the Centre Cemetery in RD Osceola Mills, PA.
Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the time of the service on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at the funeral home.
Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
