I was very saddened to hear of Theresa’s passing. I gave her Holy Communion almost every month she was residing at Mountain Laurel. When she first came and I went to her room, she would not acknowledge my presence, but over a period of time she responded and then we became good friends. She had a lamp in her room with stones in it and I told her I was going to take a stone every time I came and she laughed. My wife received a similar lamp and I took a stone from it and put it in Theresa’s lamp so she wouldn’t forget me. When I entered her room I would say I have to see the cranky one and she would answer “Here’s my buddy”. I felt the same about her. She was so excited about her purple wheel chair. We called it the one-eyed, one horned flying purple people eater and talked so much about it. We had good times talking about it. I gave her strict rules when operating it–no peeling the tires, no turning the halls on two wheels–speed limit of five miles an hour. Mountain Laurel can be a difficult place to give Communion but she was worth the trip. She talked a great deal about her family. She felt very close to them and had hopes of visiting them in her wheelchair. She was a treasure and I will miss her a great deal. My thoughts and prayers are with her and the family.

I will miss Theresa. She was a wonderful person who always had a smile. She never talked of her own illnesses, aches and pains – always wanted to know how you were doing. God shared His angel with us but now had called her to His home. God bless the family – and know she brightened many peoples lives with her laughter and smile.
