Kate Comitz
We lost our Aunt Kate on Friday, October 2, 2026. Loved by her family, she lived a life of service, looking out for others and helping however she could. The daughter of the late George and Anna (Kohut) Demchak, she was born on June 22, 1925 in the same house in Osceola Mills in which she lived out her life. At 101 years old, she was the last family member of her generation. She graduated from the former Osceola Mills High School in 1942 and then attended the former Harrisburg Business College. Her first job outside of the family business, the Demchak Planning Mill, was at the Ramey Coal Company where she worked as an office receptionist and bookkeeper. Later she worked at the Clearfield Brick Company, the Stott Coal Company, and the Osceola Fire Brick Company in similar roles. The youngest of 8 children, she was preceded in death by her 2 sisters, Mary Matia and Helen Buynak, and 5 brothers, George (Goody), John, Steve, Joe and Ed Demchak. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was a lifelong member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Osceola Mills and the Rosary Society. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 7 at 11:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church in Osceola Mills with the Reverend Father Jonathan Schmolt, celebrant.
Burial will follow at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery, Osceola Mills, PA.
