Delores J. “Lovie” Sobol
Delores J. “Lovie” Sobol, 82, of Philipsburg, PA died on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at the UPMC Altoona Hospital.
Born on January 11, 1937 in Philipsburg, PA she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sylvia (Quick) Donahue. She married Michael J. Sobol, Sr. on June 30, 1956 in Osceola Mills, PA: he survives at home.
Lovie was an active, life-long member of the Centre United Methodist Church and served as head usher, provided comfort and visits to persons in need through the church’s Outreach Program, as well as performing duties for many other committees through the years. Before starting her day, she would always read the Bible.
Some of her hobbies included weekly trips to State College for shopping, dinner, and a movie with her best friend Barb, regular dinner dates with her husband, reading, cooking, and in her earlier years, regular walks.
She was a very proud granny and was always in attendance and cheering on the sidelines at her granddaughter McKenzie’s Softball and Volleyball games and looked forward to McKenzie’s college graduation and on to graduate school to become a doctor.
She also enjoyed her annual trips to Florida to spend time with her “Florida boys” as she referred to her grandsons John, Tim, & Chris.
She graduated from the former Osceola Mills High School class of 1954.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: one brother, Russell Donahue; and by a life long best friend Barbara (Matthews) Christoff.
Along with her husband, she is survived by: two daughters, Jody Lynn Wargo & her husband John, Sr. of Naples, FL and Jill M. Burge & her husband Douglas of Osceola Mills, PA; one son, Michael J. Sobol, Jr. of Lebanon, PA and his significant other Trina Allen of Parkville, MD; and four grandchildren, John Andrew Wargo, Jr., Timothy M. Wargo, Christopher Russell Wargo all of Naples FL and McKenzie Jo Burge of Osceola Mills, PA.
Private grave Side Services were held on Friday, May 3, 2019 at the Centre Cemetery in Osceola Mills, PA with Rev. D.Z. Lewis officiating.
