Raymond C. “Frog” Shimmel
Raymond C. “Frog” Shimmel, 84, of Bigler, PA and formerly of West Decatur, PA passed away on Friday, April 12, 2013 at Windy Hill Village, P.S.L. in Philipsburg, PA.
He was the son of the late Morris “Tuck” & Iola (Knepp) Shimmel, born on May 1, 1928 in Boggs Township, PA. He was married to A. Maxine (Smeal) Stevens Shimmel on April 5, 2003; she survives him at home. His first wife was Lois A. (Richner) Shimmel, who he married on August 27, 1948; she preceded him in death on June 2, 2002.
Mr. Shimmel belonged to the Ohio United Methodist Church, (Morgan Run) Osceola Mills, PA. He was a retired Sheet Metal Worker for Tafco in Hyde, PA.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by: a son, Mitchel R. Shimmel; and a daughter, Cindy M. Socie.
Along with his wife, Mr. Shimmel is survived by: two daughters, Patty Croft & her husband Larry of West Decatur, PA and Brenda Hampton & her husband Roy of West Decatur, PA; a son, Kevin L. Shimmel & his wife Traci of State College, PA; a step-son, Richard Stevens, Jr. & his wife Mary Jayne of Johnson City, TN; three sisters, Lois Jones of Philipsburg, PA; Gail Shimmel of Osceola Mills, PA; Diane Twist & her husband William of Philipsburg, PA; and a brother William Shimmel & his wife Sandy of Clearfield, PA. He is also survived by: five grandchildren, Tia Wisor, Jason Socie, Lyndsay Westwood, Brittany Humes & Belinda Croft; eight great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
The Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 15, 2013 at the Ohio United Methodist Church, (Morgan Run) Osceola Mills, PA, with Pastor Donald Smith & Pastor Kathy Leigey officiating. Burial will be at Baughman Cemetery, (Sanborn) Rural Houtzdale, PA.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 14, 2013 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Heath Funeral Home in Osceola Mills and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at the church.
