Kathleen L. Shawley
Kathleen Cowher Shawley, 93, of Windy Hill Village in Philipsburg and formerly of Tyrone, passed away on Saturday, January 12 at Windy Hill Village. Kathleen was born in Port Matilda 0n December 10, 1919, the daughter of the late William and Minnie (Parsons) Cowher. She was the last of her immediate family.
On March 24, 1945, she married Charles Shawley of Spruce Creek and they lived all of their married lives in Tyrone. She is preceded in death by: her parents; husband Charles; her brothers Howard and William; and sisters Colorado Cowher Cowfer and Portie Cowher.
She is survived by: her daughter Marguerite (Frederick) Gustkey of Osceola Mills; her granddaughters Loriann Fink (Matthew) Belinda, Melissa Bryan Fink of State College; her grandson Charles Fink of Osceola Mills; great-grandchildren Bryan and Kristin Fink, Kaila Sarah and Caleb Belinda; and many nieces and nephews.
Kathleen was a wife, Mother, Grandma, homemaker and great pie baker all of her life. Although she had not attended church in a very long time, she had a very strong faith and worshiped daily in her spirit.
Friends and family will be received at the Heath Funeral Home in Osceola Mills, PA on Wednesday January 16 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, January 17 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with Reverend Father Stanley J. Swacha of Christ the King Catholic Church conducting the memorial service. Burial will be in Seven Stars Cemetery in Warriors Mark, PA. Friends and family are invited to join the family for a luncheon and time of sharing immediately following the service at Christ the King Social Hall in Houtzdale, PA.
