John Sanko, Jr.
John Sanko, Jr., 97, of Philipsburg, PA died on Monday, June 10, 2019 at his home.
Born on December 1, 1921 in Philipsburg, PA he was the son of the late John Sanko, Sr. and Mary (Hallad) Sanko. He married Christine (Washic) Sanko on November 6, 1955 in Philipsburg, PA; she preceded him in death on May 24, 2009.
He was a member of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church in Osceola Mills, PA.
John was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, a member of the VFW Post 5020 
of which he was the last charter member, charter member of the Osceola Mills Honor Guard, member of LOOMoose of Osceola Mills, PA, member of St. Anthony’s Society of Osceola Mills, PA and the Society of Slovak Workingmen in Osceola Mills, PA. He was a retired Conrail Engineer.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by: one son, Peter Sanko.
He is survived by three sons, Andrew J. Sanko of RD Philipsburg, PA, Michael S. Sanko of State College, PA and David G. Sanko of Osceola Mills, PA.
A Burial Service will be held on Friday, June 14, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church in Osceola Mills, PA: with Archmandrite Jacob Piruta officiating. Burial will be at the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Cemetery in Osceola Mills, PA.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Heath Funeral Home and Cremation Services, LLC in Osceola Mills, PA.
Panikhida will be held on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Military Honors will be accorded by the Osceola Mills Honor Guard at the cemetery.
