P. John “Jack” Sankey
P. John “Jack” Sankey, 76, of (Bald Eagle) Tyrone, PA and formerly of Osceola Mills and Houtzdale, PA died on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Hearthside Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in State College, PA.
Born on November 1, 1942 in Philipsburg, PA he was the son of the late Robert M. and Norma G. (Hovis) Sankey. He married Janet L. (Baker) Sankey on April 28, 1990 in Las Vegas, Nevada, she survives at home.
He was of the Christian Faith.
He was a retired school teacher for the Moshannon Valley School District retiring after thirty eight years. He was presently working for the Lion Country Supply in Tyrone, PA. He was a 1960 graduate of the Philipsburg Osceola Mills High School and graduated from Penn State University with a masters degree in education. He enjoyed dog agility, carpentry, hunting, fishing, canoeing and was a member of the Blazing Arrow Hook and Ladder Fire Company in Tyrone, PA. He was an accomplished carpenter and had built the log home they lived in.
Along with his wife he is survived by: two daughters, Lisa Wonderling of Dunedin FL and Tawney Sankey of Asheville, NC; two sisters, Linda Latosky & her husband Thomas of Houtzdale, PA and Kristen Meersand & her life partner Allen Cook of Osceola Mills, PA; one brother, Robert “Bo” Sankey & his wife Patricia of Philipsburg, PA; and two grandchilren, A. J. Wooderling and Sage Sankey.
The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, LLC in Osceola Mills, PA with Rev. Robert Ford officiating. Burial will be at the Bald Eagle Cemetery (Bald Eagle) Tyrone, PA.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to funeral time at the funeral home.
