Nicholas Sabanosh
Nicholas Sabanosh of Clearfield, PA passed away Friday August 14th at Penn Highlands, Clearfield. He was born in Garfield NJ, March 31, 1932 the son of Nicholas Sabanosh Sr. and Elizabeth (Socha) Sabanosh.
He graduated from Garfield H.S. in 1950 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1952, 
where he served active duty during the Korean War and then served his country in the Naval Reserves, retiring as a CWO-4 in 1992.
Nicholas married Julia Borani of Clifton NJ and moved to Clearfield temporarily. 40+ years later he retired as a professional photographer, a rewarding career that allowed him to photograph the lives of many people, places and things.
During his tenure in Clearfield Nick was active in many organizations. He was a two time commander of the American Legion Post #6 and most recently the Legion Historian, The Elks, the YMCA, where the world’s problems were solved, Easter Seals and he was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his loving wife Julia R. Sabanosh and his daughters Gail Sabanosh of Houston Texas and Linda Corcoran of Pittsburgh, PA. He has two Granddaughters Amy Corcoran of Long Island NY, Julie Corcoran of Pittsburgh, PA, one Great Grandson Caleb Shaffer and their significant others Tom, PJ, and Duane. He is also survived by his younger brother Bill Sabanosh, wife Barbara and nephew Bill of Massachusetts, Nephew Bill Swift of Maine and nieces husband Emery Kutney and their families.
A memorial service celebration will be held at the American Legion Post 6 located at 210 S. 2nd St. Clearfield, PA 16830, August 23, 2015 between 1:00 and 4:00 PM. To begin the memorial, Military honors will be accorded by the Clearfield American VFW Honor Guard followed by the Members of the Past Exalted Rulers Association Clearfield Lodge #540.
