Ronald Ritter
Ronald Ritter, September 26, 1942 – April 5, 2021,78, passed away in Mt Nittany Medical Center, State College. Ron was born in Merzig, Germany. He and his family moved to Canada in 1953. After graduating high School in 1961, he joined the Marines in 1962. After being honorably discharged he became a citizen of United State of America. In August 1968 joined the Pennsylvania State Police until he retired in 1994. He served in Rockview and Hollidaysburg barracks with traffic patrol, criminal investigations and mostly the canine unit with his partner Rocky doing drug investigations. Ron then went to work for Glen O Hawbaker retiring after 10 years. Ron was a charter member of the Marine Corps in State College, he enjoyed fishing with his best friends and his coffee group, boating and putting smiles on children’s faces.
He has made many, many friends throughout his life, both professionally and privately. He is survived by his companion of 15 years, Jessie Reed her children Scott and Douglas Eckess and grandchildren, Kaleb, Kael, Jacob and Kristian; brother Bernd Ritter of Canada and nephews Dylan and Derek of North Carolina, and relatives in Germany; his best friends Dave Grine, Ron Smeal, Chip Ward, Frank Dean (who preceded Ron), and many other friends too numerous to mention.
He will be deeply missed by all who have shared his life’s journey, he lived his life to the fullest and wants those to honor him by living life as he did – to the fullest. Per his wishes, a celebration of life will be held at a later date and his interment will be in Ocean City, MD.
