Frederick J. “Fred” Ridgway, Jr.
Frederick J. “Fred” Ridgway, Jr., 70, of Philipsburg, PA died on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College, PA.
Born on May 31, 1948 in Philipsburg, PA he was the son of C. Lorraine (Flick) Ridgway of Philipsburg, PA and the late Frederick J. Ridgway, Sr. He married Patricia M. (Almgren) Ridgway on October 30, 1974 in Philipsburg, PA: she survives at home.
He was a member of the Centre United Methodist Church in Osceola Mills, PA.
Fred was an automotive technician for the former Ford dealership in Chester Hill for over 40 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, a 1966 graduate of the Philipsburg Osceola High School, a graduate of Vale Tech. in Blairsville, PA, a member of the American Legion and the American Motorcycle Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading and riding his motorcycle.
Along with his mother and his wife, he is survived by: one sister, Sharon Ridgway Gates of Philipsburg, PA; one brother, William M. Ridgway & his wife Carol of Philipsburg, PA; and two nieces, Allison Ridgway and Kristen Ridgway both of Long Island, NY.
The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, LLC in Osceola Mills, PA: with Rev. Dr. Katie Hopper officiating. Burial will be at the Philipsburg Cemetery in Philipsburg, PA.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until funeral time at the funeral home.
Military Honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Philipsburg American Legion Honor Guard and the Osceola Mills Honor Guard.
