Andrew L. “Andy” Ransel
Andrew L. “Andy” Ransel 62 of Osceola Mills, PA died on May 19, 2022, at the Mt. Nittany Medical Center in State College, PA.
Born on December 10, 1959, in Brookville, PA, he was the son of the late Clyde A. and Edith A. (Steele) Ransel. He married Margaret “Peggy” Kanour on July 2, 1983, in Clearfield PA; she survives at home.
He was a member of the Osceola Mills United Methodist Church and the BPOE #1173 in Philipsburg PA.
Andy was a US Navy veteran where he served on three submarines, USS Shark, USS Snook and USS Jacksonville. He also served shore duty at the Naval Military Personnel Command in Arlington, VA; while there he automated the training pipeline for nuclear power school, for which he received a Naval Commendation Medal and was named Sailor of the quarter for Military District Washington. Additionally, he was retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections – Quehanna Boot Camp and was the proprietor of Penn5 Solutions LLC. He was a 1978 Graduate of Clearfield Area High School.
In addition to his wife, Andy is survived by two sisters, Laurel J. Phillips and her husband Albert of Phoenixville, PA and Anita Sue Mead and her husband Thomas of Dagsboro, DE; one brother, Randon P. Ransel of Bushkill, PA; one niece, Alyse Phillips of Philadelphia, PA; and two nephews, Joshua Phillips and his partner Kevin Gobeil of Wilmington, DE and Drew Mead of Alexandria, VA.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00a.m Friday, May 27, 2022, at Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services LLC, 701 Lingle St., Osceola Mills, PA with Reverend Stephanie J. Weaver officiating.
Military Honors will be accorded by the Osceola Mills Honor Guard on Friday at the funeral home.
Visitation will be held from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Thursday, May 26, 2022 and Friday from 10:00a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
