Evelyn (Lashinsky) Novak
Evelyn (Lashinsky) Novak of Smithmill, PA died Friday, November 11, 2016 at the Colonial Courtyard in Tyrone, PA.
Born in Smithmill, PA, she was the daughter of the late Wasco and Anna (Semetkosky) Lashinsky. She married Stanley Francis Novak in New York City; he preceded her in death on December, 18, 1997.
Mrs. Novak was a member of the Saint Barbara’s Polish National Catholic Church in Houtzdale, PA and a member of the Women’s Guild of the Church.
Prior to her retirement Mrs. Novak worked at the Conrad Edison Hotel in New York City and later at James Industries in Hollidaysburg, PA where she made slinkies.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by: two sisters, Katherine Barno & Ann Richtscheit; four brothers, Andrew, Frank, Jack & Paul Lashinsky; one grandson, Carl Stanley Novak and a great-granddaughter, Chasity Novak.
She is survived by: one daughter, Constance A. Bickle & her husband Gary of Bath, PA; one son, James R. Novak, Sr. and his wife Carol of Tyrone, PA; and four sisters, Helen Tutokey of Smithmill, PA, Martha Tanish of Smithmill, PA, Marie Lidgett of Smithmill, PA & Ella Jane Longenecker of Tyrone, PA. She is also survived by: five grandchildren, James Novak, Jr., Billie Jo Miller, Rhonda Novak, Sharon King & Stephanie Riley; twelve great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Saint Brarbara’s Polish National Catholic Church in Houtzdale, PA; with Father Scott J. Lill celebrant. Burial will be at Saint Barbara’s Polish National Catholic Cemetery in Houtzdale, PA.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 18, 2016 at the Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Osceola Mills, PA from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A Vigil for the deceased will be held by Father Lill on Friday at 3:00 pm at the funeral home.
