Effie J. Merritt
Effie J. Merritt, 93, of (Sanborn) RD Houtzdale, PA died on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at her home.
Born on September 14, 1928 in Allport, PA she was the daughter of the late Maynard C. and Grace R. (Coble) Cowder. She was married to her first husband Joseph Kraus who died in 1984 and her second husband Walter E. Merritt who died on December 19, 2006.
She was of the Christian Faith and was a homemaker. Effie was a graduate of the former Cooper township High School.
In addition to her parents and both husbands she was preceded in death by seven sisters and four brothers.
She is survived by: one son, Joel Kraus of Morrisdale, PA; one granddaughter, Tori Thompson; one grandson, James Merritt; three great-grandchildren, Ryan Kraus-Thompson, Breanna Thompson and Alayna Thompson; and one great-great grandson, Ryeker Kraus-Thompson.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Heath Funeral Services, LLC in Osceola Mills, PA: with Rev. Robert Bruinooge officiating. Burial will be at the Kylertown Presbyterian Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Saturday October 30, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. until funeral time at the funeral home.
