George Wilson McGonigal
George Wilson McGonigal, 89 years old a guest at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home and formerly of LeContes Mills, PA died Sunday December 24, 2017 at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home.
Born on October 24, 1928 in Karthaus, PA, he was the son of the late Charles LeRoy and Bessie Annette (Holt) McGonigal.
He was of the Christian Faith.
George was a retired Heavy Equipment Operator for the River Hill Coal Company and a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: one son, George McGonigal; three sisters, Grace Weaver, Helen Potter and Aredas Lanager; seven brothers, Ralph, Raymond, Leonard, Harold, James, Neil and Carl McGonigal; and one great-grandson, Michael Gavlock.
He is survived by: two daughters, Peg Livergood & her husband Jim of (Eden) Frenchville, PA and Debra McGonigal of Woodland, PA; three sons, Thomas McGonigal & his companion Karen Cartwright of West Decatur, PA, Anthony McGonigal of LeContes Mills, PA and Roger McGonigal of LeContes Mills, PA; one sister, Jean Troutman & her companion Bill Richards of Claymont, DE; eighteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday June 2, 2018 at the Oak Hill Memorial Church, Pottersdale, PA with Pastor Kenneth Leonard officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A luncheon fill follow at the LeContes Mills Fire Hall.
