John W. “Jack” McGirk
John W. “Jack” McGirk, 84 of Osceola Mills, PA passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at the Altoona Hospital Campus of the Altoona Regional Health Systems, in Altoona, PA.
Born on December 14, 1927, in Altoona, PA. He was the son of the late Willard & Ethel (Weakland) McGirk. He was married to Janet June (Dively) Stout McGirk on August 27, 1982 in Osceola Mills, PA.
Mr. McGirk was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Osceola Mills, PA where he was a member of the Church Choir. Additionally, he was an Army Veteran of WWII.
He was a Representative for Fuller Brush for twenty years, also employed as a Substitute Teacher, volunteered in the Reading Works Program at the Philipsburg Osceola School District and the Author of three short stories. Mr. McGirk graduated from the Altoona High School and attended Penn State University Altoona Campus.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Evelyn (Peachman) Burket McGirk; four sisters Alberta, Marjorie, Evelyn, and Mildred; and one brother Donald.
He is survived by one step-daughter Sharon Ann Stout of Sandy Ridge, PA; three step-sons Jack Burket and his wife Delores of Altoona, PA, Raymond Stout and his wife Mary Ann of Philipsburg, PA, and Randy Stout and his wife Khandaa of Franklin, PA; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
There will be a Memorial Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 30, 2012 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Osceola Mills, PA with Rev. Father Robert J. Horgas officiating. Burial will be at the Umbria Cemetery in Osceola Mills, PA.
Heath Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, there will be no visitation.
