Vanetta L. Kennedy
Vanetta L. Kennedy, 95, of Frenchtown, Osceola Mills, PA died on Friday, May 14, 2021 at Maybrook Hills in Altoona, PA.
Born on May 27, 1925 in Osceola Mills, PA, she was the daughter of the late Lester Leroy Kennedy & Frances Mabel (Coudriet) Kennedy.
Vanetta was a member of the Osceola Mills United Methodist Church and Willing Workers’ Sunday School Class of the Church. Additionally she was a member of the Philipsburg Christian Women’s Club, a member of the former Philipsburg Hospital Auxiliary, a Life Member of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union, Triennial Class Reunion Committee Member, a Life Member of the Osceola Mills Community Historical Foundation, a member of the former Women’s Civic Club of Osceola Mills, a member of United Methodist Women and a member of the Chancel Choir of the Church.
She was retired seamstress in the area clothing manufacturers for over 40 years and was a 1942 Graduate of the former Osceola Mills High School.
Vanetta enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling, cooking volunteering at the hospital and nursing homes, reporting news to the Progress and other papers, coordinating artifacts for display in the local museum, and was the Chairperson for the Annual Flower Show and Food Festival.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by: two brothers, Lester F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy; and by a niece Elizabeth Temple-Cook.
She is survived by: a brother, Ardell R. Kennedy of Osceola Mills, PA; nieces and nephews, Tammy Kennedy of Osceola Mills, PA, Kathy Shields of Lancaster, PA, Sherilyn Kennedy of Wallaceton, PA, Melanie Courtirillo of Philipsburg, PA, Dennis Kennedy of Manchester, MD, Cindy Neidrick of Osceola Mills, PA , Kerby Kennedy of Sterling, KS, Kala Wright of Spiro, OK, Karen Buccella of Greenwood, AK, Kara Johnson of Lyons, KS, Stephen Temple of Wichita, KS, and Emily Gillespie of Alden, KS.
The Funeral Service will be held at noon on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at the Osceola Mills, United Methodist Church with Pastor Gloria Montgomery officiating. Burial will be at the Umbria Cemetery in Osceola Mills, PA.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:30am until the time of the funeral service at the church.
