Agatha M. “Markey” Kennedy

Agatha M. “Markey” Kennedy, 82, of Osceola Mills, PA died on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Windy Hill Village, P.S. L. in Philipsburg, PA.

She was the daughter of the late John D. & Minnie A. (Davis) Carson, born on September 11, 1931 in Philipsburg, PA.  She married Lester F. Kennedy at the C.M.&A. Church in Osceola Mills PA on September 23, 1950;  he survives at home.

Mrs. Kennedy was a member of the Osceola Mills United Methodist Church, where she was active with the United Methodist Women of the church and taught Sunday School for many years.  She was employed as a Cashier at the Philipsburg-Osceola Elementary School in Osceola Mills and retired after 25 years of service.  After her retirement, she volunteered at the former Philipsburg Hospital.  She was a 1949 graduate of the former Osceola Mills High School.  And she enjoyed needlework and reading.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: two sisters, Alice Ellis and Lois J. Peters; and five brothers, Melvin Carson, Milford Carson, Austin Carson, Donald Carson and Leslie Carson.

Along with her husband, Mrs. Kennedy is survived by: four daughters, Kathy Shields & her husband Ken of Lancaster, PA, Sherilyn Kennedy of Wallaceton, PA, Melanie Curtorillo & her husband Darrel of Philipsburg,PA and Tammy Kennedy of Osceola Mills, PA; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

The Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at the Osceola Mills United Methodist Church, with Pastor Jennifer C. Heikes officiating.  Burial will be at the Umbria Cemetery in Osceola Mills, PA.

Visitation will be on Tuesday at the church from 11:00 until the time of the funeral service.
