Vanetta Jean Irwin
January 24, 1932 – October 10, 2021
Vanetta Jean Irwin, 89, of Osceola Mills, PA passed away on Sunday October 10, 2021 at Windy Hill Village, PSL Philipsburg, PA with some of her family by her side.
Born on January 24, 1932 in Osceola Mills, PA she was the daughter of the late Freeman and Mable V. (Wertz) Webster. Vanetta was reunited with her husband John P. “Jack” Irwin. They were married for sixty-seven years until Jack’s death on July 5, 2018. They were married in North East, PA on September 1, 1950.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: two daughters, Janeen Lynn (Jani) Irwin and Jill Irwin; two brothers, Jack Webster and Rodger Webster; and her beloved Pomeranians, Gingi, Meggi and Macy.
She is survived by: one daughter, Katina Stephens & her husband Caleb of Osceola Mills, PA; three sons, John J. “Jackie” Irwin of Curwensville, PA, Todd F. Irwin of Osceola Mills, PA and Craig A. Irwin & his wife Diane of Tipton, PA; three grandchildren, Shane Irwin of Osceola Mills, PA, Sarah Stephens of Osceola Mills, PA and Latisha Carver of IN; three great-grandchildren, Chase, Kussandra and Izziah; two sister-in-laws, Ruth Webster and Louise Irwin; one brother-in-law, Robert Irwin; and one step-grandson, Adam Fraser.
Vanetta loved her family, fought for their best interest and cooked for holiday parties. She enjoyed playing Scrabble, gardening, taking care of her flowers, vacationing in Maine and watching TV. She was instrumental in researching the Webster family tree online and organizing a giant Webster family reunion in 2002 at the age of seventy.
She was a 1949 graduate of the Osceola Mills High School.
Vanetta owned her own beauty shop in her house for many years and co-owned the Mapledale Trailer Court with Jack for over thirty years.
Vanetta was a talented artist who began painting late in her life. Her artwork hung in art shows in Penn State Altoona, State College, Clearfield and various other places. Her art has adorned the walls of homes and offices around the area.
Vanetta and Jack were Penn State football season Ticket holders for many years. Vanetta loved watching Penn State football and Penn State wrestling. She was a big Philipsburg-Osceola wrestling and P-O softball fan, often going to home and away matches and games.
She attended the New Life Center in Philipsburg for many years. In fact, she was a member when the church was started. She also attended the Osceola Mills Presbyterian Church.
The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 18, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, LLC in Osceola Mills, PA: with Rev. John T. Dill officiating. Burial will be at Umbria Cemetery in Osceola Mills, PA.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 17, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m. until funeral time at the funeral home.
