Robert E. Hughes

Robert E. Hughes, 86, of Osceola Mills, PA, died on Monday, May 18, 2026 at Embassy of Hearthside in State College, PA.

Born on March 7, 1940, in Osceola Mills, PA, Robert was the son of the late William & Gladys (Vaughn) Hughes Fields. He married Claudia A. (Flegal) Hughes on September 14, 1962 in Philipsburg, PA. She preceded him in death on August 11, 2024.

Robert was a member of the Centre United Methodist Church in Osceola Mills, PA. He was also an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War Era.

He retired as a Heavy Equipment Operator for James Cowfer Coal & Forcey Coal.

Robert was a 1958 graduate from P.O. High School.

In addition to his parents and wife, Robert was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Hughes.

Robert is survived by a daughter, Bobbi Joy Scovern & her husband David of Lemont, PA; two sons, Leslie S. Hughes of Moodus, CT, and Stephen K. Pollard & his wife Kim of Philipsburg, PA; two sisters, Lanetta Knowles & her husband Lynn of Philipsburg, PA, and Jean Myers & her husband Eric of Corsicana, TX; a brother, William Hughes & his wife Shirley of Osceola Mills, PA; seven grandchildren, McKenzie Walker, Kurtis Walker, Kylie Scovern Forbes, Rachel Hughes, Sarah Hughes, Stephen Pollard, and Jessica Pollard; and three great-grandchildren, Charlee Walker, Gray Walker, and Iris Walker.

A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Interment will be at Centre Cemetery in Osceola Mills, PA.
