I’m am so sorry to hear of the passing of Uncle Lou. He was always very kind to me; as was the entire family! I hope time has brought peace and healing to you all!

Popcorn,
I can’t believe a year has past. I think of you everyday and all the lessons of life you taught me. I’m sure you were watching from above last Saturday when the hated USC Trojans beat yer beloved fighting Irish. There’s always next year!!! I look forward to the day we are together again. I love you and miss you.

My dad, John Mandel, was in boot camp with “Louie”, and they spent a lot of time together. My dad is from Philipsburg, PA, right next to Osceola Mills, and they got together after the war a few times when Louie came back to PA for hunting and family visits and my parents’ wedding According to my dad, Louie met his wife while on a double blind date with my dad. My dad is 91 years old and still alive; my mom died in November 2021. We have been going through a lot of his old wartime pictures; and I have found many of dad and Louie.
