Leo P. Hughes, Sr.
Leo P. Hughes, Sr., 92 of Osceola Mills, PA died on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at his home.
Born on December 15, 1930 in Osceola Mills, PA, he was the son of the late Richard M. & Josephine C. (Powers) Hughes. He married Mary Louise “Mary Lou” Rodgers, on October 13, 1956, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Houtzdale, PA; she preceded him in death on April, 27, 2017.
Leo was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Osceola Mills, PA, an Army Veteran of the Korean War, a member of K of C Council 2050 in Osceola Mills, a member of VFW Post #5020 in Osceola Mills, and a member of the American Legion.
He was a retired Dental Lab Technician for the former Beres & Hughes Dental Lab in Clearfield, PA and a former Rush Township Supervisor.
Leo was a 1948 graduate of the former Osceola Mills High School class of 1948 and attended Penn State University.
In addition to his parents and wife, Leo was preceded in death by three brothers, Milton Hughes, Ben Hughes and Louis Hughes.
He is survived by three daughters, Frances M. Hughes of Metairie, LA, Mary Gunter-Calvert & her husband Mark Calvert of Osceola Mills, PA, and Jean E. Brooks & her husband Todd of Ogden, UT; five sons, Martin J. Hughes & his companion Cathy of Duncansville, PA, Leo P. Hughes, Jr. & his wife Lori of Lakeville, MA, Joseph G. Hughes & his wife Jacqueline Hughes DDS of Chambersburg, PA, Patrick L. Hughes DMD of Washington, DC and Thomas E. Hughes of Williamsport, PA; and twenty-two grandchildren.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Osceola Mills, PA; with Rev. Father Joseph Staszewski, Celebrant. Burial will be at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in Osceola Mills, PA.
Visitation will be Friday from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, LLC in Osceola Mills, PA.
Rosary will be recited on Friday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Military Honors will be accorded by the Osceola Mills Honor Guard.
