Ethel M. Hughes
Ethel M. Hughes, 91 of Osceola Mills, PA passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Colonial Courtyard in Clearfield, PA.
Born on November 10, 1920 in Decatur Township, PA. She was the daughter of the late Fred & Grace (Graham) Myers. She was married to Raymond E. Hughes in Coal Run on February 26, 1938 who preceded her in death on January 15, 1986.
Mrs. Hughes was a member of the Coal Run Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Rural Osceola Mills, PA and a member of the Alliance Women’s Group of the church. She was a homemaker.
Ethel was an excellent seamstress, who made beautiful quilts for her family. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing games, especially Scrabble. Ethel’s faith and love for her Lord was evident to all those who had the joy of knowing her. Although she will be greatly missed by her family and friends, Ethel looked forward to her homecoming in Heaven to spend eternity with her Savior.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by three sisters Gertrude Reams, LaRue Patterson and Olive Srock; and four brothers Derwood Myers, Donald Myers, Clayton Myers and an infant brother Richard Myers.
She is survived by four daughters Stacia Szretter of Deerfield Beach, FL, Sharon Robinson and her husband Vern of Curwensville, PA, Linda Hughes of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Pam Roupe and her husband Rich of Bradford, PA; eight grandchildren Sue, Julie, Steve, Kim, Tracy, Garret, Megan and Katie; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the Heath Funeral Home in Osceola Mills, PA with Rev. Hiram Westover and Rev. Milton Vogel officiating. Burial will be at the Umbria Cemetery in Osceola Mills, PA.
Friends will be received from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 9, 2012 and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral at the funeral home.
