John Steven Huber

John Steven Huber age 69, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 8 ,1957, in Philipsburg, a son of the late John C. Huber and Charlotte A. (Latz) Huber.

John was a 1975 graduate of Philipsburg-Osceola High School.

On May 10th , 2003, he married Brenda (Tormey) Huber who survives at home.

Steve was employed as a diesel mechanic with Al Hamilton Contracting for much of his career. He also owned and operated AJH Engine Service and worked for J.B. Stiver Trucking.

He was a member of the Osceola Mills United Methodist Church. Steve was a lifetime member of the Philipsburg Fire Department, the Central District Firemen’s Association and the Columbia Volunteer Fire Department. Steve was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending early mornings fishing at Cold Stream Dam, as well as spending time at his camp at Mountain Branch.

His greatest joy, however, was his grandchildren. He also loved spending time in his “man cave” where he could often be found watching westerns, Emergency and Fox News. Steve was known as the guy who could fix anything and more importantly as someone who would always lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife Brenda, he is survived by his daughter Alison Huber of Philipsburg; his son John Huber (Heather) of Philipsburg; his former wife Brenda Lingle of Philipsburg and three grandchildren Easton Huber, Gracie Haney and Toby Cuneo (Courtney and husband Caleb).

He was preceded in death by his father John C Huber on August 8th , 1994; his mother Charlotte A Huber on May 14, 2015 and an infant twin brother.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Don, Lacey, Heather and Angie of 365 Hospice, as well as Amber Wilson for the compassionate care they provided to Steve and his family.
