Richard W. “Rick” Hess
Richard W. “Rick” Hess, 73, of (Twigg Settlement) Philipsburg, PA died on Friday May 24, 2019 at his home.
Born on September 24, 1945 in Philipsburg, PA he was the son of the late William C and Miriam R. (Ramiza) Hess. He married Sally M. (McCracken) Hess on May 29, 1971 in Grampian, PA, she survives at home.
He attended the Immacualte Conception Catholic Church in Osceola Mills, PA.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, a life member of the VFW Post 5020 in Osceola Mills, 
PA and a member of the Rails to Trails of Central Pennsylvania. He was a government auditor with NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA for twenty nine years retiring in 1998. He was a 1963 graduate of the Philipsburg Osceola Mills High School and graduated from Penn State University with a BS in Accounting in 1967. He also earned his private pilot’s license as a student.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his step-father, Samuel Hess; one son, Jeremy Hess; and a nephew Scott Murdoch.
He is survived by: one son, Jason Hess of Austin Texas; one sister, Nancy Williams & her husband Milo of Summerfield, FL; and fourteen nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Osceola Mills, PA; with Rev. Father Robert J. Horgas celebrant.
There will be no visitation.
His cremated remains will be laid to rest at a later date by the family at his request.
