Andrew Comitz, Jr.
Andrew Comitz, Jr., 87, of Osceola Mills, PA died on Monday, September 1, 2014 at his home.
Born on August 6, 1927 in Osceola Mills, PA, he was the son of the late Andrew Comitz, Sr. & Anna (Hortuck) Comitz. He married Rita (Bagrosky) Comitz on August 18, 1951 in Houtzdale, PA; she survives at home.
Mr. Comitz was a member of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church in Osceola Mills, PA and a Navy Veteran of W.W.II. He was a member of: VFW Post 5020 in Osceola Mills, PA; American Legion #313 in Osceola Mills, PA; B.P.O. Elks in Philipsburg, PA; and the Bavarian Club in Altoona, PA. He was a Meat Cutter for the former A&P Super Market in Osceola Mills and Philipsburg totaling 35 years and also Retired in 1988 from the Philipsburg-Osceola School District after five years. He was a 1945 graduate from the former Osceola Mills High School.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: two sisters, Helen Grundusky and Mayme Hartzfeld; and one brother, John Comitz.
Along with his wife, Mr. Comitz is survived by: a daughter, Barbara Danko & her husband Doug of New Castle, PA; two sisters, Anna Renwick of York, PA and Margaret Olenick of (Chester Hill) Philipsburg, PA; three granddaughters, Maj. Allison McFeatters & her husband Dale, Andrea Wagner & her husband Bradley, and Ashley Pavone & her husband Peter; and three great-grandchildren, Landon & Lilah Wagner and Dale D. McFeatters.
A Burial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church in Osceola Mills, PA; with Archimandrite Jacob Piruta officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Osceola Mills, PA.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Heath Funeral Home in Osceola Mills, PA.
Panikhida will be held on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Military Honors will be accorded by the Osceola Mills Honor Guard at the cemetery.
