George R. Brocail
George R. Brocail, 95, of Osceola Mills, PA died on Friday, March 4, 2022 at his home.
Born on July 9, 1926, in Ginter, PA he was the son of the late Charles and Louella (Couperthwaite) Brocail. He married Annice M. (Kephart) Brocail on September 20, 1979 in Winchester, VA she survives at home.
George was a member of the Osceola Mills Presbyterian Church.
George was a 1944 graduate of the former Osceola Mills High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. A member of VFW Post 5020 in Osceola Mills, PA, the American Legion in Osceola Mills, PA, Life Member of the Columbia Fire Co. of which he had served as treasurer, former President of the Osceola Mills Borough Council. He was recognized as man of the year by the council for his many contributions to the town. He was a former Sunday School Teacher and Elder of the Osceola Mills Presbyterian Church. In 1994 he and ten other veterans formed the All Veteran Memorial Association (AVMA). He built the monuments in Osceola Mills Park with the help of his brother Donald and Other veterans.
He was a retired State Inspector for the Commonwealth of PA and he was a carpenter and stone mason by trade.
George especially loved his family and looked forward to the times his grandchildren were able to visit. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid Penn State Football and Pittsburg Steeler’s fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: one son, George M. Brocail; five sisters, Miraim Pollick, Mabel Hoover, Florence Polachko, Carol Martin and Lennis “Lenny” Kenjora and two brothers, Charles Brocail and Donald Brocail.
Along with his wife, he is survived by: four daughters, Susan Pysher & her husband Todd of Montgomery, PA, Jean Ann Hopkins & her husband Jack of Spring, TX, Barbara Caldwell & her husband Mac of Clearfield, PA and Laurie Sparks of Osceola Mills, PA; two sons, Jeff Scovern & his wife Anna of Raleigh, NC and David Scovern & his wife B. J. of Lemont, PA; one sister, Janice Hughes of Spring Valley, CA; fourteen grandchildren, Michael Girardi, Matthew Girardi, Ryan Hopkins, Kirk Hopkins, Aron Hopkins, Ted Davis, Tiffany Hurtack, Brianna Van Ness, Josiah Davis, Joshua Scovern, Madeline Sparks, Kylie Scovern, McKenzie Zazworski and Kurtis Walker; and thirteen great-grandchildren, Skylar, Ava, Stella, Dylan, Presley, Kinley, Keegan, Cora, Keaton, Kaden, Max, Isla and Charlee.
The family would like to thank Conemaugh Home Health and 365 Hospice for his excellent care.
The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at 12 noon at the Osceola Mills Presbyterian Church: with Rev. Robert Bruinooge and Rev. Dr. Mary Jo Bruinooge officiating. Burial will be at the Umbria Cemetery in Osceola Mills, PA.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, LLC in Osceola Mills, PA and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until funeral time at the church.
Military Honors will be accorded by the Osceola Mills Honor guard.
