Edward L. Blakely, Sr.
Edward L. Blakely, Sr., 80, of Osceola Mils, PA died on Veterans Day, Thursday, November 11, 2021 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College, PA.
Born on October 4, 1941 in (Kerrmoor) Curwensville, PA he was the son of the late Alvin and Maryann (Barto) Blakely. He married Joanne D. (Miller) Blakely on January 3, 1961, she preceded him in death on June 3, 2011.
Edward was a member of the: Osceola Mills United Methodist Church; Osceola Lodge #515, F & A M; Jaffa Temple in Altoona, PA; Clearfield Shrine Club of which he was the president; Legion of Honor of the Jaffa Shrine; U.S. Army veteran; Fraternal Order of the Police Bald Eagel Lodge 51, Port Matilda, PA; BPOE Elks #212 Tyrone, PA; Volunteer for the Osceola Mills Food Bank; Clearfield County Private Detective; and the VFW 5020 in Osceola Mills, PA. He was also a former Mayor of Osceola Mills Borough and served as a member of the Osceola Mills Borough Council.
Edward was a retired State Investigator for PA Dept. of State and former Deputy Sheriff for Clearfield County.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one sister, Judith Dreese.
He is survived by: his companion Erma Evans; two daughters, Tammy Sue Beninsky & her husband Martin of Trevorton, PA and Kimberly Ann Merryman & her husband Tim of Philipsburg, PA; one son, Edward L. Blakely, Jr. of Treverton, PA; seven grandchildren, Michael Scott Blakely, Kevin Edward Blakely, Robert August Blakely, Martin Michael Beninsky, Mary-Christine Merryman, Timothy Joseph Merryman and Joseph Anthony Merryman; and three great-grandchildren, Brenna, Ava and Hadley.
The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, LLC in Osceola Mills, PA: with Pastor Gloria Montgomery officiating. Burial will be at the Philipsburg Cemetery in Philipsburg, PA.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until funeral time at the funeral home.
Military Honors will be accorded by the Osceola Mills Honor Guard at the cemetery.
