Michael J. Bires, Jr., 78, of Philipsburg, PA died on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at his home.
Born on March 14, 1940 in Philipsburg, PA he was the son of the late Michael J. Bires, Sr. and Mary L. (Bowman) Bires. He married Judith K. (Sankey) Bires in 1958, she survives at home.
He was a member of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church in Osceola Mills, PA.
Michael was retired from Cerro Metal and Brass and was a 1958 graduate of the Philipsburg Osceola Mills High School.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: two daughters, Hannah Godissart & her husband Jeff of Lusby, MD and Kathleen Ferdarko & her husband Robert, Jr. of Philipsburg, PA; one son, Michael J. “Jim” Bires, III & his companion Denise Reimer of Philipsburg, PA; three grandchildren, Shanna Godissart & her fiancee David Beach of Prince Frederick, MD, Travis Bires & his companion Tesia Koontz of Williamsport, PA and Alayna Ferdarko of Bloomsburg, PA; and two great-grandchildren, Carter J. Bires & Lillian Godissart-Beach.
A Burial Service will be held on Monday, October 15, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church in Osceola Mills, PA: with Archimandrite Jacob Piruta officiating. Burial will be at the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Cemetery in Osceola Mills, PA.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, LLC in Osceola Mills, PA.
Panikhida will be held on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
